Celebrating Ministry Impact at Ascent Community Church

At National Covenant Properties, we count it a privilege to partner with churches whose facilities are not simply buildings but active tools for mission. Ascent Community Church in Louisville, Colorado, is a compelling example of what happens when a congregation embraces its space as a catalyst for community transformation.

Ascent’s building is intentionally open, flexible, and designed to be adapted for nearly any purpose. That adaptability has allowed the church to welcome its neighbors in meaningful ways throughout the year. In December, the church’s main gathering area became a pop-up Christmas toy shop, where families experiencing financial strain could shop (at no cost) for gifts for their children. Every toy, and every dollar used to purchase additional toys, came from the generosity of the congregation and surrounding community.

The building has also supported a range of community activities, from local PTO fundraisers to school dances, including Homecoming celebrations. Ascent’s vision for its space reflects a deep commitment to hospitality, stewardship, and presence in the surrounding neighborhoods.

This spirit of engagement is equally evident in the way God is at work within the church. In November, Ascent launched its Live Large initiative, a campaign that began as a response to anticipated reductions in SNAP benefits but quickly grew into a broad expression of congregational generosity. Historically, Live Large has enabled Ascent to provide gift cards to families in local schools so they could purchase Thanksgiving meals. This year, recognizing greater needs, the church expanded the invitation: members were encouraged to bring nonperishable food and toiletries for the local food bank and to contribute financially to the campaign.

The response exceeded every expectation. The church filled seven large bins with food and essential items, supplied Thanksgiving gift cards to 103 families, and hosted a special Stocking Social for single mothers—allowing them to enjoy dinner and fill a stocking with personal gifts, all donated through the congregation and community partners.

Ascent’s Christmas Shoppe, powered entirely through volunteer effort and donations, provided gifts for more than 800 families, over 2,000 children, last Christmas season alone.

Signs of renewed connection are visible across the church’s ministries as well. Ascent launched its first softball league this fall with more than 54 participants, ages 16 to 60. Over 75 people joined weekly small groups, and more than 30 individuals stepped into new volunteer roles after Engagement Sunday. The energy, participation, and generosity echo levels the church has not experienced since before the pandemic.

We are grateful for our partnership with Ascent Community Church and for the privilege of supporting work that so clearly reflects the love of Christ in action. NCP leadership and board have visited a couple of times and are always genuinely excited to see what’s happening at Ascent.”
